BUSINESS & FACILITIES MANAGER: Miriam
Miriam has over 30 years experience in the equine field. She began riding as a child and has owned horses from the age of 15. While earning her Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies from the University of Massachusetts she rode hunter/jumper competitively along with showing the University's yearlings “in hand”. While living in Southern California she followed her passion into the sport of dressage; riding and training her own horses while managing a private competition dressage barn of upper-level horses competing at national and international levels. Experienced in equine healthcare, trailering, all preparation on the show circuit along with stable management and project management in the construction of an equine facility. Miriam has done most of her training with Kim Kulesa (USDF Bronze, Silver, Gold medalist, trainer/coach of USDF year end award winners through the FEI levels) located at Spirit Equestrian in Somis,CA. and in 2014 she attained her Certification from the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians, recognized by the AAEP as an Equine Veterinary Assistant.
Barbara Strawson – Head Trainer Barbara is one of our onsite, Upper-Level trainers. She is a USDF Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist, most recently achieving her Gold Bar. Barbara’s extensive resume includes over 20 years of training and showing a multitude of horses from Training Level through FEI Grand Prix. Barbara spent four years in Germany with four-time Olympic Gold Medalist Nicole Uphoff. While in Germany, Barbara trained and competed as Nicole’s assistant. Barbara began her FEI career with Scott Hassler, -- USEF Young Horse Dressage Coach. She was also the Assistant trainer at Hilltop Farm for over ten years. Barbara founded Barbara Strawson, LLC in 2005 after returning from Germany. Barbara’s vast wealth of knowledge and sensitivity to horse and rider allow her to provide a high quality of training. She enjoys teaching all types of horses and riders. Her mission is to help each individual realize and reach their full potential.
